Summary
Mr. Long represents inventors before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Reg. No. 59750, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Prior to law school, Mr. Long worked in the private sector as a technical product manager and software engineer supporting Fortune 500 and Global 1000 clients and projects across a wide array of industries. Mr. Long's technical experience includes international product engineering, conducting technical review panels, OEM licensing and technology due diligence (license-in and license-out), large-scale supply chain integration, as well as collaboration with and management of engineers up to the Ph.D. level. Mr. Long has experience presenting technologies to executives (Board of Directors) and successfully contributed to securing buy-in at $35 MM from investors at a previous startup company. Mr. Long served as a federal judicial law clerk in U.S. District Court, Central District of California. There, Mr. Long assisted in drafting opinions to review decisions of federal agency administrative law judges and cases on appeal from the California Supreme Court. Mr. Long also served in the Intellectual Property Unit, Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, where he assisted in patentability reviews, drafting licensing agreements, patent prosecution and intellectual property infringement matters. Mr. Long authored written recommendations regarding patent rights under the Bayh-Dole Act (Title 35 U.S.C. 200 et seq.) to support a federal grant of $61 MM. Mr. Long worked with outside patent attorneys and agents of large law firms, technical experts, professional engineers, and executives to develop patent litigation strategies. Mr. Long also coordinated discovery in a large software class action suit involving multidistrict litigation.
